Paul Waltman, Assistant Concertmaster

Son of a Swedish mother and a Canadian father, Paul Waltman was born and raised in Stockholm. He received a MfA in Music at the University of Gothenburg, later on earning his Soloist Diploma at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Following this, he was a resident artist at the Banff Centre in Alberta numerous times.

Since 2010, Paul has held the position of Assistant Concertmaster with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra. He has also been a member of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, appearing as a soloist with both ensembles. In addition to being a frequent guest leader with Sweden’s other orchestras, he performs regularly as a chamber musician and soloist in Sweden.

Paul has a soft spot for the occasionally neglected music of the late Romantic era. In 2008 he released a CD containing Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s Violin Sonata with acclaimed pianist Bengt Forsberg, and the same composer’s glorious Violin Concerto with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of David Björkman.
